Hi, my name is Haili and I own a luxury maternity portrait studio in Austin, Texas. I proudly identify as the leading studio family maternity photographer in Austin Texas. I am a luxury maternity, newborn, and baby photographer who is highly sought out due to my unique posed (yet unposed) style. When looking for how to book your studio family maternity photoshoot, it can be a daunting experience.
My time working with growing families has proven one thing: my clients are almost always bound to have small children. Are older children a dream? Yes! Toddlers can be a handful to deal with when it comes time to do your photoshoot. Is yours an angel? Yes, hahahaha. In my eyes, they are all good babies and we work on their timeline. It really helps to work with someone who has experience working with young children.
I simply lucked out when my client, Ashley, came back to me for her second pregnancy. Her little boy, who I had the pleasure of photographing when she was pregnant a few years ago, was a dream baby. He was sooooo good for his mommy’s maternity photoshoot. He smiled the entire time, listened to direction, and was just the cutest little model. To be honest, very atypical and I’ll go into my FAQS below to answer some of those questions in your head.
So, how does “it” work? Let me go through a couple FAQS.
- Do your maternity photoshoots include family or motherhood type images or will it be just me? a. Yes, you can make the photoshoot just your day or you can do a few photos with your family as well. Ashley was clear from the beginning that she wanted this photoshoot to be more family focused, vs spotlighting just herself, this time around. Once we consult I will have a better idea on your vision for that.
- Do you charge more for them to be included? A. No, your session fee covers your photoshoot no matter how many family members we have at the photoshoot. Please contact me to see receive pricing information.
- What if my toddler doesn’t behave? A. This is such a common worry and I always try to tell my clients to just trust the process.I have lots of tricks up my sleeve for working with young children. My saying is: “One perfect image together is good, two perfect images together is wonderful, three perfect images together is an absolute dream”. It’s a common misconception that you need 400 mediocre photos of your little one with you, when in reality you want THE photo. One amazing photo that is show stopping and wow worthy. That is what I strive for at my studio – quality not quantity.
- Do I have to include my family in my maternity photoshoot? A. No, listen. I am EXTREMELY passionate that moms deserve a day to themselves, a day to celebrate their first, their final, or wherever they are at in between, pregnancy. Wherever you are in your motherhood journey, I am with you. Repeat after me: “It is okay to spend money on just myself.” A lot of moms will feel guilty and bring their spouse or children to their photoshoot to justify the purchase, and then cut the majority of images of themselves just to keep mainly the family ones. I highly encourage you to consider this a present to yourself for all that you have done and examine if you really want to bring them or just simply relax and have a day for yourself for the first time in a long time (or ever).
- How long does the family portion take? A. They will be in and out of the studio in 30-60 minutes, max. I don’t time my photoshoots but you can absolutely bet when working with small children we have to work fast. It is not rushed but it does move quickly. I can get a lot done in an hour, as shown in Ashley’s maternity photoshoot gallery.
- When do they show up? A. They will show up after hair and makeup services are complete. Around 11:30am. We’ll knock out the family portion and then they leave. We’ll move right into the mom only photoshoot portion and be wrapped up shortly after.
